Every place on ViaViaStays is here because somebody slept in it and put their name to what they thought — including what was wrong with it. Nobody can buy a listing. Nobody can pay to rank higher.
How it works
A place cannot get here on its own.

Somebody stays
Not a reviewer, not an influencer on a press trip. A person who booked a place, slept in it, and came home.

They put their name to it
A write-up with a real name attached, checked against a proof of stay by a person here. That check is slow, and it is the whole reason the rest is worth reading.

You read what they actually said
Including what was wrong with it. Every recommendation carries a "what you should know" — the cold bathroom, the road noise, the twenty-two steps.

Why it reads differently
Small on purpose, and awkward about it.
No listing fees to appear
A place is here because a guest wrote about it, not because anybody paid.
Nobody can buy a better position
Paid placements exist, are labelled as paid, and cannot change what is recommended.
The bad bits stay in
Owners cannot edit a guest’s write-up, and cannot review their own house.
Checked by a person
A first recommendation needs a proof of stay that somebody here reads by hand.
Been somewhere worth passing on?
That is the whole arrangement: you read what other people found, and when you get back from somewhere good, you write it down. An account is free, and reading does not need one.
